ROOTS OF REGGAE

Reggae music developed from the heart in Jamaica in the late 1960’s. Its foundation lie deeply in the sounds from traditional Caribbean genres including ska and rocksteady. Those earlier forms gave reggae its infectious groove, while incorporating elements from American R&B and Mento. Reggae became more than just a musical style; it grew a power
